Input voltage range: DC 5.6-13.3V

Power output for sensors: DC 24V, 200 mA maximum; internal PTC protection.

Front panel

On the front panel, an LED indicates the Edge Node's status. It is useful during installation to have feedback from the connection with the power source.

·
Solid green light: Battery is fully charged.

·
Solid red light: Battery level below 10%.

·
Green blinking: The battery is charging.

·
Blue blinking: The Edge Node detects the incoming power, but the battery is not charging due to low voltage or insufficient current. Also, blue blinking indicates booting after a restart.

·
One second of blue light every minute: The Edge Node operates on a battery.

Next to the LED indicator is an IP68-rated USB Type-C connector for terminal communication and power input.

Finally, another IP68 connector for sensor supply, RS-232, and 4-20mA interface.

If a connector is not used, the corresponding cap must be tightened to prevent dust and moisture contamination.

The mounting location is critical to ensure safe installation and reliable operation. For reliable operation and optimal satellite performance, the installer should consider the following guidelines:

The location must provide a safe, secure installation to prevent collisions or blockages that could interfere with the Urb-IoT Edge Node or solar panel.

The Urb-IoT Edge Node is not intended to be operated near a person. Always ensure it is mounted more than 20 cm from people to comply with RF exposure limits.

Do not install the Urb-IoT Edge Node inside a building, under metal surfaces, or next to solid or dense objects (e.g., lush trees).

Requires a 360-degree view of the sky to be able to sustain a continuous connection to the satellite.

Select a flat, horizontal mounting location for optimal uniform satellite performance.

**The Urb-IoT Edge Node must be placed with the logo facing upward.

Consult your sensor User Guide to understand sensor coverage and transmission distance based on the protocol used. Make sure the Urb-IoT Edge Node is installed within the area needed (Wi-Fi = Up to 40m, BLE = Up to 10m, LoRaWAN® = Up to 6km)

Mounting the Urb-IoT Edge Node

Urb-IoT Edge Node can be mounted to objects using #8 pan head screws, as shown below, or to a pole using a pole mount accessory (not included)

Figure 6: Heavy-duty mount

Figure 7: Pole Mount

Heavy-duty mount:

Install mounting feet to the enclosure using the supplied screws with a torque of 100 - 110 cN-m (8.8 - 9.7 lbf-in).

Mount enclosure object using #8 pan head screws (not included).

NOTE: The Urb-IoT Edge Node logo must be facing the sky

Pole Mount:

Secure the Urb-IoT Edge Node to the panel mount accessory using a screw, washer & postnut.

Attach the Urb-IoT Edge Node to the vertical pole, loosely assemble the U-Bolts or Pipe Clamp to the brackets, and tighten once the highest possible height is reached.

If you are using a solar panel, it must be placed below the Urb-IoT Edge Node. Avoid overshadowing the panel with the equipment. NOTE: DON’T BLOCK THE SKY VIEW WITH THE SOLAR PANEL. PLACE IT BELOW THE URB-IOT EDGE NODE

·
Consider that the Wi-Fi, BLE, LoRa, and Cellular antennas are inside the Urb-IoT Edge Node enclosure.

·
Don’t block the Urb-IoT Edge Node with the post or any other large (metallic) structure.

·
Be sure sensors are placed in a general line of sight of the Edge Node and face the LoRa Antenna to the LoRa sensors.
